Started using Google Reader this week. Had some down time over the past few months (ruptured disk that eventually led to surgery in February '08) and have really been absorbing/learning/reading all I can around me while I was idle. This is a quicker way for me to catch up with things now that I'm back to work part time and get me back up and started on some crafty projects. Here's some of my shared reader...
Return of the Bats was amazing last night. Wishing I wasn't so worn out from my work event earlier that day...it is really great to be getting "back" to having a life! Thanks for everyone's support and concern.

So get out your Halloween MAKE and turn to page 21 to see my jack-o- lantern from last year. That's right! Last month Make contacted me to see if they could use my picture. I never heard back on whether or not they actually did so when the new issue hit the floor at my store (I've been working at a bookstore since April) I glanced through to see what all was in it not thinking they'd used the image but there it was!!! That discovery was followed with jumping around the store showing everyone working my picture. They probably thought I was nuts but I couldn't contain my excitement. The only thing better than being in Make would be to be in Craft...so go get your copy before they run out at your local Books-a-Million!

Life has been a bit complicated lately. My job has changed from one with internet access to one without and from part time to full time. It is quite an adjustment. Mostly it means actually using my phone to communicate *gasp*!
The Art & Soul of Southend was a bust. The Charlotte Craft Mafia had a cluster of booths, none of which did particularly well. We had really bad placement and I think turnout was low. I am vending again at Rockabilly BBQ on June 2nd and can't wait! Going to nix the Heavy Rebel Weekend vending as the upfront fees are just more than we can handle right now. That really breaks my heart but its more than I've ever pulled for an event so it just doesn't make sense to take that risk right now.
My new job with the bookstore seems to be working out, they have me basically running the cafe. I love coffee. Speaking of coffee...a local coffee shop is going to carry my cozies on consignment and I might even go in on the weekends and barista! Did I mention I absolutely love coffee?! The other day I made latte art and put a heart in the top of a latte. Almost got a leaf too a few days later. Customers at the bookstore seem to care less about latte art they just want their drinks but the little cafe carrying my cozies thought that latte art was cool. :D
I am just trying to get on track here...Please bear with. My Etsy shop is so stagnant, my Saturdays are spent working or resting my weary feet and I am trying to stay involved with the Craft Mafia as best I can at the moment.
Zack started a new brew yesterday...Ginger Beer. Looking forward to trying that in a month or so.
Trying to find some vending options for July here locally but not coming up with many options.
Just a quick update on my day off. Hopefully I'll fall back in the routine of posting and listing items again soon. Until then..TTFN!
YAY! Today I caught up from last week's chaos. It feels good. Hubby is leaving town tomorrow morning so no doubt I'll get some things done while he's gone as well and maybe be ahead of the game. Trying to find a tent so I can vend at an outdoor event, there's a rental for $40 but hesitant to do it b/c thats half of a new one. Do I really need a canopy? Heavy Rebel Weekender accepted me for a vendor but I've gotta come up with the vendor fees and that's gonna take selling a few wedding gowns...
Today I took pics of my awesome scrub in the Inked fabric and made two goodies out of the scraps for the client b/c she was oh so patient and easy to work with!
Among the prom dresses and trying to organize my summer vending schedule new creations have been made for my Etsy shop!

Yesterday was my husbands birthday.
Yesterday we made our first batch of homebrew beer, an oatmeal stout.
Yesterday was beautiful.
Yesterday Heroes made me cry.
Yesterday was productive but lazy.
Yesterday was a really great day!
So, I was bored and decided to offer my services to Madame Lilith Deville for Cirque Macabre in hopes of getting some exposure. (Good thing too, I found out after the fact that Gothic Beauty might be attending!) I am making pants for my husband (makes me feel like a good little wifey!) to wear to Cirque and now prom season has descended upon me. One prom dress for sure (due April 28th) and one possible (due by April 21). The possible one is much easier than the one already in progress. I'm knocking off a Vera Wang! All very exciting.
There is also a patternmaking opportunity that has been presented to me for a menswear line in Atlanta. Mulling over that one while I finish up the current projects. To top it off, someone asked if I wanted to be in a fashion show March 2nd from a Craigslist posting. I had to laugh. Seriously, they offered to have all the models and makeup done...not something designers like. Designers like control over who's wearing their clothes and how they are presented. It was a truly bizarre offer, especially coming 2 weeks out from their show. If I want a fashion show, I'll do a fashion show and I won't be looking for designers 2 weeks before the event. How bizarre?
It just feels like all of a sudden my sewing tasks have exploded into full production. On top of that, I'm sick. Sick like I think I have the flu sick. Yeah. But Madame's collar and pants are done, just gotta do the top and I'm done. Zack's pants are almost done and Terrelle's prom dress lining is coming along nicely...Sickness will not slow me down! (Ok, so I might slack on cleaning house a bit...)
